Dear Parents,
We are back to school after a long holiday and we hope you have had a wonderful time with family and friends. We would like to say a sincere “thank you” for your thoughtful gifts and the special ways you have wished us a Merry Christmas. Thank you so much!
During this month, each child will be retested and report cards will be sent home at the end of the month. (Report cards are a guide for you to see how your child is progressing.) We will be conferencing with parents on January 18th, if needed. Watch for the sign-up sheet to arrange a convenient time.
When the children are unable to play on the playground during rainy weather, we take walks around the school. Therefore, all the children should bring a warm coat to school each day (please remember to label coats and jackets with your child’s name). As the cold and flu season begins, we are asking for each family to send at least two packages of baby wipes to school to combat germs. We will also be sending home your child’s emergency clothes so you can restock with warmer (and larger) clothing.
Along with baby wipes and new emergency clothing, we are also asking each family to send to school a dozen glue sticks. We are almost completely out and we sincerely need more to complete our projects every day. Thank you!!
On Saturday, January 7th, Achiever will be having our Open House. This is an opportunity to tour the different classrooms (remember to check out what the kindergarten classrooms look like) and to meet the teachers. Please invite family (grandparents want to be included, too), friends and neighbors to come see your child’s beautiful school. You will be able to pick up an enrollment packet for next year during this time.
Our children are always excited when they get a turn on one of the two classroom computers since they are only used for the first twenty minutes of every day (and occasionally after lunch). However, the wait will be getting even longer since one of our computers has finally died. It is not unexpected because it is so old that it still had a floppy drive door (although floppy drives have not been used for at least 10 years). So, we are asking for donations of old computers. If you happen to be updating to a new computer this Christmas, please remember us. Thank you!
We will be very busy this month. Be sure to check the calendar for the themes and alphabet letters we will be learning for January. Our January parent helpers are also listed on the monthly calendar.
